“I donate because it's the right thing to do. My own blood type is classified as "universal" and can be received by those with all blood types, particularly in emergency situations. I also have a very personal reason for donating. Twenty-four years ago I experienced a uterine rupture during the birth of my son, Ben. I came very close to bleeding to death and my life was saved, in part, by donated blood. It seems wrong to me to not give now, when I am capable of doing so.”
